Fabrication of relaxation space adjoining sauna made from cut lengths of pine and corrugated perspex.

Basin Bathhouse was an experiential project for Glasgow’s canal quarter. Temporarily inhabiting and transforming an under-utilised site at Applecross Basin, Basin Bathhouse was a space for shared experience, centred around a wood burning mobile sauna, brought to Glasgow specially for this project.

The Bathhouse was in situ for a period of four days over the May Bank Holiday in 2019 offering free sauna sessions and encouraging consideration of the canal’s past, present and future as a place of work and rest. Accompanying the Bathhouse was be a programme of artworks further exploring themes of labour and relaxation, tangible and intangible heritage.
